Bangkok, Thailand – Food & Hotel Thailand (FHT) 2018 returns for its 26th edition this 5 to 8 September at BITEC. This year’s event will be bigger than ever with five exciting new international pavilions, two new local pavilions and five new events, in addition to showcasing premium products and services from around the world across a new bigger three combined halls layout at BITEC.
In response to Thailand and the regions dynamic and growing food & hospitality industry, FHT 2018 is expanding to three combined exhibition halls with an area of over 18,000 sqm – a 20% increase from last year. The event will host 466 participants from 33 countries exhibiting top-quality products and services from more than 2,000 brands. FHT 2018 will feature eight international country pavilions from China, Japan, and South Africa which they are leaders in this sector, including four new international pavilions highlighting innovative food, beverage and hospitality products from their respective nations: Italy, organized by Bellavita; Korea, organised by Jeonbuk Institute For Food-Bioindustry (JIF), Poland, organized by the National Support Centre for Agriculture (KOWR); two from Japan, one organized by Osaka and another by Taito Tokyo. Two new local pavilions from Central E-san showcasing food and products from North East Thailand and Green Suppliers' Pavilion showcasing green and sustainable products for hotels and restaurants.
In addition, FHT will host conferences discussing trends and tips for improving skills and increasing competitiveness in this industry, including Thailand’s 20th Hospitality Industry Congress, Thailand’s 24th International Culinary Cup (TICC), Thai Restaurant Association Seminar, Thailand National Latte Art Championship 2019, Thailand National Culinary Team Final Preparation Lunches before competing in the Culinary World Cup 2018, 14th FBAT International Wine Challenge, Wine Seminars and Wine Master Class 2018, Best Sommelier in French and Thai Wines 2018, Executive Housekeeper Association Workshop and Seminar, Hotels & Building Chief Engineering’s Club Seminar, Dusit Thani College Seminars, and Thai Spa Operators Association Seminar.
Five brand new activities that should not be missed are the Gelato Workshops by Carpigiani Gelato University, the Thailand National Coffee in Good Spirits Championship, ASEAN Professional Beverage Academy (APBA) Masterclasses 2018 for Sake and Whiskey and the Innolab Forum: Food Allergen Management for Food Retail, Food Services & Food Catering.
Tourism accounted for 20% of Thailand’s GDP (2.76 trillion Baht) in 2017 and the country expects to reach 3 trillion Baht from more than 30 million tourists this year. In the first half of 2018, Thailand has already seen 19.44 million foreign tourists – a 12% increase from last year. Chinese tourists remain the largest group with a 26% growth rate, reaching 5.9 million to date. These growing numbers are driven by the government’s decision to promote both Thailand’s primary and secondary tourist cities.
